Om Mani Padme Hum

Om Mani Padme Hum Acrostic
Only for those who believe
Mantras invoke the embodiment of compassion
Many say it silently to oneself
And others carve it into stone
Never to be translated completely into English
It’s meaning far too vast
Paramitas explained by six syllables
Are meditation, patience, discipline,
Diligence, wisdom, and generosity
Mantras are spiritual conduits
Effective in the form of chants
Happiness can be taught; so behold!
Unto yourself: and hail the jewel in the lotus.
Mantra meanings are not just words.

I was born/raised/confirmed to the beliefs of the Catholic faith but I choose to follow the teachings of Buddha. They speak to me in ways that make me want to be a better person.

The ethics refer to moral purity of thought, word, and deed. Keeping these precepts promotes not only the peace of mind of the cultivator, which is internal, but also peace in the community, which is external.

I really believe that we, as human beings, can reach enlightenment during our lifetime. I want my wisdom and understanding of life to enable my clarity of perception of the world around me.

I got the first part when I was eighteen, then last summer I traveled to South Korea and Japan.  It was a very enlightening trip and it inspired me to get a lotus flower above the mantra.  They are very beautiful.  Anyways, just wanted to share my other tattoos since I got a few questions about the significance of my new skull tattoo.
